There are three main types of criminal records:

  • Court dispositions. Court dispositions are the final judgments (or outcomes) in a case. You won’t have court dispositions for arrests or charges that never went to court.
  • Chicago RAP Sheet. A RAP sheet is a Record of Arrests and Prosecutions. It lists all the arrests, charges and outcomes you’ve had in Chicago. You only need this if you were arrested, charged, tried or sentenced in Chicago. You do not need a Chicago RAP sheet if your cases were in locations other than Chicago.
  • Illinois State Police Statewide Criminal History Transcript. This transcript lists all your arrests and convictions from Illinois. It won’t list arrests or convictions from other states.
